About Us
| Since 1953 |
| From early ottomans to the original swivel rocker to one of today's leading outdoor furniture manufacturers. Homecrest began as an offspring of a retail furniture shop in Wadena, Minnesota in 1953, when founders Mert Bottemiller and Al Engelemann set out to build a better hassock (now more commonly known as an ottoman) than their vendors could supply. They soon expanded their business into manufacturing with a growing line of indoor and outdoor furniture. |
| |
| Industry Firsts |
| The original swivel rocker mechanism, patented by Homecrest in 1956, was at the foundation of the Homecrest outdoor product line, which took off in the 1960s as Americans increasingly enjoyed backyard dining, entertaining and recreation. The popularity of Homecrest products soared and distribution extended nationwide.
In addition to being one of the first outdoor furniture manufacturers in the United States, Homecrest was also the first outdoor furniture manufacturer to use Sunbrella fabrics on outdoor furniture. |
| |
| Hospitality |
| As retail sales prospered, distribution expanded into new markets including international, and contract for resorts, restaurants and health care. The Homecrest product line also grew, with a stream of new collections, products and innovations including: self-adjusting chaise, swivel rocker recliner and chaise, gliders, padded slings and technically innovative fabrics, very low maintenance aluminum mesh, and the popular Comfort Recliner. |
| |
| Moving Forward |
| This 55-year old outdoor furniture brand combines a rich history of quality and classic design with today's demand for affordable luxury and versatile living. |

The Green Story
| The Greening of Design: |
More designers and consumers are interested in ecologically-friendly designs and products. Sturdy, durable outdoor furniture with a long lifespan is more appealing than “disposable” furniture meant to last only a few seasons.
Just ask around, Homecrest customers are well aware of the longevity of our products. Many consumers have had Homecrest furniture that is over 25 years old, and they are still using it with great satisfaction. Visit our replacements section to order replacement cushions and parts. |

| 09/08 Press Release - Bullinger Enterprises, LLLP. Buys Innovative Surfaces, Inc. |
FARGO, North Dakota (September 2008) -- We are pleased to announce that a tentative purchase agreement has been reached between Bullinger Enterprises, LLLP. of Fargo, ND and Innovative Surfaces, Inc. of Phoenix, AZ.
Bullinger Enterprises, LLLP entered the casual furniture market in December of 2007 when it purchased the assets of HC Holdings, LLC and resumed production of Homecrest casual furniture under the name of Homecrest Outdoor Living, LLC. The new company has enjoyed a successful start-up with a philosophy of focusing on the success of the retail dealer; and returning to the business basics of great service, high quality, and competitive pricing.
Innovative Surfaces was a pioneer in the faux tabletop market, and remains a leader in the industry today. Launched in 1995, the company has 13 years of inventing, engineering, designing, and perfecting tabletops with the look and feel of real stone, and the durability to live in rugged environments. In the last several years, Innovative Surfaces has perfected the introduction of the use of copper, nickel, and other metals to augment the beauty of their tops. This progressive company has perfected a clear coating that bonds to the table surface at the molecular level for lasting beauty and durability.
“The purchase of Innovative Surfaces, and its partnership with Homecrest Outdoor Living, positions both companies for long term success and growth in the casual furniture market. We now have the ingredients necessary to return Homecrest to the market position the company enjoyed in the late 1990’s, and put to rest any doubt that we are serious about the casual furniture market.” says Mike Bullinger, president of both Bullinger Enterprises and Homecrest Outdoor Living.
Along with supplying tabletops for Homecrest, Innovative Surfaces will continue to develop and manufacture tops for other leading casual furniture manufacturers. By continuing to combine the volumes of several furniture manufacturers, Innovative will be able to make the necessary investments to remain cost competitive and a market leader in this very important market segment. |
